The XIV annual meeting was held at the Center for Inter-American Policy and Research (CIPR) - Tulane University on April 9th. It covered two separate but related themes. 

The first one was "Household Responses to the Economic Crisis" prioritizing: "Crisis impacts on poverty, vulnerability, human capital accumulation or well being broadly defined", "Adjustments by household labor behavior, social program participation, etc." and "Evaluation of policy interventions to mitigate the impact of the crisis on poor/vulnerable households". Secondly, the topic was "Good Intentions, Bad Outcomes: Social Policy, Informality and Economic Growth". This edition presented 7 papers.

    • David Mckenzie & Ernesto Schargrodsky: "Buying less but shopping more: The use of non-market labor during a crisis"

    • Monica Ospina: “The effects of income shocks on child labor and conditional cash transfer programs as an insurance mechanism for schooling”

    • Eduardo Fajnzylber: "Incentives under the new pension solidarity pillar in Chile"

    • Ernesto Schargrodsky: “Labor insertion assessment of conditional cash transfer programs: A dose-response estimate for Mexico´s Oportunidades”
